BTEC First in Sport

BTEC First in Sport and BTEC National provide a unique opportunity to further your academic qualifications without the stresses of exams.

Both courses are internally assessed through a number of interactive assignment briefs covering 6 and 18 units that access a variety of current sporting issues. The BTEC qualifications are in line with the national qualification framework and equate to GCSE and A level standard work.

Where does it lead?

The BTEC First is run as a full-time one year course and used as a stepping stone to gain additionally GCSE’s to get onto an AS course, to seek employment in the sports industry or continue with vocational studies

The BTEC National can also be used to follow a possible career in the sports industry or as a stepping stone to higher vocational courses  at university.

Why you should study Sport?

Enrichment Activities

During both courses candidates have the opportunity to gain the Level 1 and Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership (JSLA and CSLA).

Access to the internet, via a laptop or PC,  for our VLE is essential.

Entry Requirements
No entry requirements for BTEC First in Sport, interview only. BTEC National Level 3 requires a minimum of 5 GCSE grades A* to C including English and Maths plus a minimum of a Merit in BTEC First in Sport.
