English G.C.S.E. Retake

GCSE re-sits are completed in the November after your summer exams.  The course will run for approximately 8 weeks and will focus on intensive revision of the exam units.

You will sit Paper 1: Non-fiction and writing to argue, persuade and advise and Paper 2: Poetry Anthology and writing to inform, explain and describe.  You will have a choice of questions for both writing sections from which you must answer.

Where does it lead?

A GCSE ‘C’ Grade in English is vital for many colleges and Universities including many employers who value this level of attainment.

Why you should study English Retake?

You should study GCSE English re-sit if you are determined to get a C Grade or higher in this subject area.  Many employers and colleges of further and higher education require a minimum C grade for entry.

GCSE English covers the topic areas of non-fiction, writing for many different audiences and purposes and the Poetry Anthology.

What skills do I need to be successful in this subject?

  • A determination to achieve a C Grade;
  • Self discipline to complete all tasks set on top of your other commitments;
  • A complete coursework folder which you must bring to your first lesson;
  • An annotated poetry anthology which you can use for revision.
