Maths G.C.S.E. Retake

This is an intensive course, running for 4 lessons a week until November. You will be taught in small groups, using investigations, ICT and practical activities to aid your learning and revision.

You will follow the Linear GCSE course. 

Course Contents

You will study units in the following areas:

  • Number and Algebra
  • Shape and space
  • Data Handling
  • Using and applying maths   

Where does it lead?

A C grade at GCSE Mathematics is required by many colleges and employers, and is compulsory for some careers (e.g. primary and secondary teaching; all subjects).

Why you should study Maths Resit?

  • You did not get the GCSE grade you require to follow your chosen career path (but were very close);
  • To have another attempt at obtaining a C grade at GCSE;

This qualification will enable you to apply to the College or Employment of your choice who will be looking for a grade C and above at GCSE.

What skills do I need to be successful in this subject?

Full commitment to this course is required.  Good number skills are essential as well as good independent study and revision skills. Algebraic skills may need to be improved.

Assessment

You will sit one Calculator and one Non-Calculator paper in early November of Year 12.

Other Information

Graphic Calculator and scientific calculator required.
