Physical Education

PE A Level is an interesting and challenging course for those who are interested in improving both their practical performance and their understanding of factors affecting it. Students will also be required to analyse and coach others in PE.

Where does it lead?

PE A Level enables students to study a wide range of courses at university such as Sports Development, Sport Management, Sport Psychology, Sport Science, Physiotherapy, Sports Journalism, amongst others. 

Why you should study Physical Education?

  • A widely accepted course at universities
  • Gives students the opportunity to gain an insight into the minds and bodies of all types of athlete
  • It covers a wide range of topics in which a variety of skills are developed, from teamwork, to performance analysis, to psychological reasoning and debate.

What skills do I need to be successful in this subject?

  • It is important that students have a lively interest in sport and are strongly committed to their own personal participation.
  • A strong science background is beneficial.

Assessment

Coursework and practical (30%), examination structure and questions.  (70%). Students will complete a Personal Performance Portfolio for their coursework element. They will also sit 2 exams each year.

Enrichment Activities

Students visit Brighton University Sports Science laboratories to assist with the coursework element of the A Level.
