Parental & Carer Support
Working in partnership to help every student thrive, academically, personally, and spiritually.
At St Paul’s, we know that Sixth Form is a time when young people grow in independence and begin to shape their own future. But that journey is most successful when it’s supported by a strong partnership between home and college.
We deeply value the role that parents and carers play in supporting learning, wellbeing, and motivation. Together, we share one goal: to help each student flourish and achieve their full potential.
You arrive as you are, and you’re celebrated for it. You leave ready to take on the world.

How Parents and Carers Can Support Students
While we encourage our Sixth Formers to take increasing responsibility for their studies, our experience shows that consistent communication and encouragement from home make a huge difference.
Throughout the two years, we invite parents and carers to take part in a series of events designed to keep you informed, connected, and confident in supporting your child’s journey:
Year 12
- Parents’ Information Evening
- Parents’ Consultation Evening
Year 13
- Parents’ Information Evening & Higher Education Information Evening
- Parents’ Consultation Evening
In addition, parents and carers receive regular progress updates across the academic year, providing insight into achievement, attitude to learning, and attendance.
We also use EduLink, an online platform that allows you to track your child’s attendance, assessment data, progress, and independent learning tasks (ILTs) in real time. EduLink makes it easy to stay connected to your child’s learning journey and to communicate with the Sixth Form team whenever needed.
Access EduLink through your web browser at https://www.edulinkone.com/, or by downloading the EduLink One app from the App Store or Google Play.

When Concerns Arise
If a teacher or tutor has concerns about a student’s attendance, progress, or welfare, they will reach out directly to parents or carers. If those concerns continue, the Sixth Form team and Head of Sixth Form will work in partnership with families to offer further support or interventions.
Tutors, teachers, and the Sixth Form leadership team are always available to discuss questions, share updates, and provide reassurance. Communication is key, and we encourage parents and carers to contact us whenever they have a concern, however small it may seem.
Maintaining excellent attendance (with no unauthorised absences) is vital for A Level success. If a student is unwell or unable to attend, please report their absence to the College before 8:30am via 01444 873898, use the Absence feature in EduLink, or email absence@stpaulscc.co.uk.
Parents or carers will be notified if a student misses tutor time or assemblies.

Support Tips for Parents and Carers
Encourage Independence
- Your child is learning to manage their own studies and routines, but your interest and encouragement still matter.
- Ask about what they’re learning, their goals, and what’s going well. Show that you’re proud of their growing independence.
Stay Involved
- Use EduLink One to stay informed about attendance, assessments and progress.
- Spot any changes early and support your child if they need a bit of guidance.
Study & Wellbeing
- Encourage a healthy balance between study, rest, and social time.
- Short, focused study sessions are far more effective than long hours without breaks.
- Rest and downtime are just as important for performance and wellbeing.
Open Communication
- Keep talking. Sixth Form can be exciting but also demanding at times.
- If your child is finding things difficult, reach out to their tutor or a member of the Sixth Form team.
- We’re here to support both students and families.
Part-Time Work & Attendance
- Part-time jobs are great for experience, but too many hours can affect energy and focus.
- We recommend no more than 10 hours a week.
- Consistent attendance at college is vital for success. Please help ensure your child keeps to their timetable and lets us know if they’re unwell.

How We Work Together
We see parents and carers as partners in each student’s success. When school and home work in harmony, celebrating progress, identifying challenges early, and keeping communication open, young people thrive.
If you ever have questions or would like advice on how best to support your child, please contact your child’s tutor, a member of the Sixth Form team, or the Head of Sixth Form.
