Pastoral & Learning Support
Every student deserves to feel supported, known and loved, and able to thrive.
At St Paul’s Sixth Form, care for our students goes far beyond the classroom. Our pastoral and learning support teams work closely together to make sure every student feels valued, listened to, and equipped to succeed, both academically and personally.
We know that Sixth Form brings new freedoms, responsibilities, and challenges. That’s why we put relationships, communication, and tailored support at the heart of everything we do.
You arrive as you are, and you’re celebrated for it. You leave ready to take on the world.

Our dedicated Sixth Form team is here to offer guidance, care, and encouragement throughout your time with us.

Miss Hubbard
Deputy Head of Sixth Form
They’re supported by a compassionate and experienced tutor team, who get to know every student individually and play a key role in ensuring each person is supported academically, emotionally, and socially.
Tutor Time
Tutor Time takes place on weekdays between 8:30am to 9am on days where there is no assembly, and all Sixth Form students are expected to attend.
During tutor sessions in base rooms, students explore topics such as wellbeing, study skills, and preparation for life beyond St Paul’s.
A weekly assembly gives us a chance to come together as a community to share reflections, celebrate success, and focus on personal and spiritual growth.
In addition, every student meets with their tutor one-to-one once a fortnight. These mentoring sessions provide a chance to review progress, talk through any challenges, and set goals for the weeks ahead.
You arrive as you are, and you’re celebrated for it. You leave ready to take on the world.

Where to Go for Support
Your tutor is your first point of contact for advice, guidance, or any personal concerns. They’ll listen, offer practical help, and, where needed, connect you with the right specialist support.
Sometimes students benefit from additional care. This might include a referral to our in-college counsellor, who offers a safe and confidential space to talk. Students or parents/carers can speak directly to their tutor or a member of the Sixth Form team to begin this process.
Our approach is simple: no one faces challenges alone. We’ll help you find the right support, at the right time.
I thought about leaving, but I realised no one else would care about me the way St Paul’s does. Here, I’m not starting over, I’m moving forward.

Transition to Sixth Form
Moving from Year 11 to Sixth Form is exciting, but we know it can also bring change. New expectations, new ways of learning, and new levels of independence.
Our Sixth Form pastoral team works closely with the Learning Support Department to make this transition as smooth as possible, ensuring every student can settle in and succeed. We provide guidance, reassurance, and adjustments where needed so that no student is ever at a disadvantage.

Learning Support
We believe that every learner deserves to achieve their very best. Our Learning Support Department, led by Mrs Wilkinson (SENCo), offers tailored help for students with specific learning needs or exam access arrangements.
Ms Wilkinson is available to answer any questions or concerns about SEN support, including access arrangements such as using a laptop, having a reader or scribe, or receiving extra time in exams.
Our dedicated Learning Support Assistants work alongside her to provide targeted help across a wide range of needs, including:
- Literacy and numeracy support
- Speech, language and communication
- ASD, ADD, ADHD
- Dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and dyslexia
This support ensures every student can learn with confidence and achieve their best, whatever their starting point.
