Before You Apply

Choosing what to study at Sixth Form is an important decision. It’s about discovering what excites you, challenges you, and helps you take the next step toward your future.

We recommend taking time to:

  • Explore the course pages to understand content, assessment, and entry requirements. We have provided a checklist to help you choose the right course.
  • Talk to teachers, subject leads, and our Sixth Form team if you’re unsure which combination of subjects is right for you.
  • Attend our Open Evening or arrange a one-to-one visit to experience life at St Paul’s for yourself.

If you’re aiming for a specific career, such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, nursing, or engineering, our team can advise you on the right subject choices and entry requirements. We also recommend checking university websites early to understand what’s needed for your chosen pathway.

I thought about leaving, but I realised no one else would care about me the way St Paul’s does. Here, I’m not starting over, I’m moving forward.

Course Requirements

We want every student to choose courses that will allow them to succeed and flourish. That’s why we set clear entry requirements, so you know what’s expected and can plan confidently.

To study Level 3 (A Level or BTEC) courses at St Paul’s:

  • You need five or more GCSEs at grade 9–4.
  • To study A Levels, you’ll need an average point score of 5.3 or above.
  • If your average point score is below 5.3, you will normally be expected to include at least one BTEC in your choices.
  • Some courses also have specific entry requirements. Please check the details on the individual course pages.
  • If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths and/or English, you will be required to retake the subject alongside your chosen Sixth Form courses.

How to Apply

All applications are made online. The closing date for applications is 19 December 2025, although late applications may be considered if places are still available. All applications will be considered in accordance with our Admissions Policy

Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll stay in touch to keep you informed about the next steps. You’ll be invited to an interview to discuss your subject choices, interests, and goals. This is a chance for us to get to know you, and for you to get a feel for our community. Interviews usually take place between February and March, and offers are made soon after.

You arrive as you are, and you’re celebrated for it. You leave ready to take on the world.
