What You’ll Study

Students will develop both the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to understand, deliver and evaluate sporting performance.

Key areas of study include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology – Understand how the body’s systems work together to support performance and physical activity.
  • Fitness Training and Programming – Learn how to design, deliver and evaluate effective fitness programmes.
  • Professional Development in the Sports Industry – Explore the skills, behaviours and pathways needed for success in sport-related careers.
  • Sports Leadership – Develop confidence, communication and leadership skills through planning and leading sporting activities.
  • Practical Sports Performance – Apply your knowledge in real sporting situations, analysing and improving your own performance.
  • Investigating Business in Sport – Examine how the sport industry operates, including marketing, finance and event management.
  • Skill Acquisition – Understand how athletes learn and develop new skills, and how coaches support performance improvement.
  • Organising Sports Events – Plan and deliver sporting events, developing teamwork and management experience.
  • Application of Fitness Testing – Learn to conduct, interpret and apply fitness tests to assess and enhance performance.
