What is French?

Learn the French language whilst exploring different aspects of French life and culture. French is the official language of 22 countries, and is the co-official language of several others.

French, like its romantic counterparts Spanish and Italian, has its roots in Latin. It evolved gradually into its own language, and has become internationally influential.

Why study French?

In today’s increasingly competitive world market, advanced technologies and globalisation have made international communication a necessity. French is a vibrant language spoken by over 300 million people all over the world in over 50 different countries.

It has gained international recognition as the primary international language for diplomacy and international relations, and continues to play an integral part as an internationally-used language in global affairs.
